All of my reviews are my honest opinion based upon my experience of that place, thing, activity. I am not paid to write any of the reviews so that I can maintain that freedom. Where ever possible, I review things after testing them for at least a month so you can get a better idea about how they perform.

No. I do not get paid for my reviews. For the most part I have paid for everything myself. Sometimes I am gifted items to review but I make it clear that any reviews I write are going to be completely honest. The company gifting the item has no say over what I write and they do not get to review the post before I publish it.

It’s mainly about common sense and only doing things that you feel comfortable doing. The usual travel advice applies; don’t wander around on your own after dark if you’re in unfamiliar or potentially dangerous places. Don’t have any expensive items on display. Don’t admit to being alone, always make it seem like you’re travelling with someone. Buddy up for things you’re not sure about (either with friends or with other travellers that you meet). You get the idea :)

I realised that solo travel offered a level of freedom that you don’t get when you travel with others. Of course, it’s great fun travelling with friends, but sometimes you just want to run to your own schedule. I’ve written a whole blog post about the pros and cons of solo travel which you can read here.
